He has obtained his Medical Education from Medical School at University of Heidelberg, Germany, German board in Cardiology & German board in Angiology, internal medicine. Dr. Kamal Al Abdi completed his study as Doctor of Medicine from the University of Vienna, Austria and did his Post-Graduation in Internal Medicine and interventional Cardiology gaining profound training.

Dr. Rahul Amunje Mally is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Head of the Department of Neurology & Neurosurgery at NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi who joined us in September 2013. Prior to this, he was a faculty member at Sir J. J. Hospital, Mumbai, a 2000 bed tertiary care teaching hospital, where he was selected as the best Assistant Professor during his tenure. He underwent advanced training at Keio University in Tokyo in skull base surgery under the world renowned Dr. Takeshi Kawase. While here he also worked with and trained under Prof. Sano, who holds the record for the most number of aneurysm surgeries in the world as per the Guinness Book of Records.
Dr. Rahul is an educational committee member of the Asian Congress of Neurological Surgery and is on the editorial boards of two international neurosurgery journals. He has presented papers at national and international conferences and also chaired a session at an international conference.

Prior to joining NMC, he was a Senior Consultant and HOD of Neurosurgery at Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), Kerala, a 600 bed tertiary care facility and the first multi-speciality hospital in India to gain NABH accreditation.
During his stint at MIMS he led a broad range of surgeries spanning the gamut of brain and spine surgeries. These included intracranial aneurysm clipping, excision of skull base tumors, spine tumor surgery and craniofacial surgeries. He was also involved in performing complex multi-specialty surgeries in association with Surgical Oncologists, Plastic Surgeons and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr.Shankar was instrumental in setting up a fully fledged neurosurgery department at Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi, India.
He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Kozhikode and went on to do his M.Ch. in Neurosurgery from the prestigious Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore. He has also completed a clinical fellowship in skull base and vascular surgery from Fujita University, Japan and has an MBA in Hospital Management. In 2015 he was also admitted as a Fellow of the European Board of Neurological Sciences (FEBNS).
Dr. Shankar has published articles in various international journals and has also presented papers at national and international conferences. He has also been involved in the peer review process for a number of journals including the Indian Journal of Neurotrauma and BMJ group of journals. He has co-authored a chapter in the Indian Clinical Neurosurgery, Volume II, published in 2002 by CBS Publishers.
